Moving to Minnesota…

May 15th, 2009 | No Comments

We recently found out that my husband’s company wants him to relocate to Minnesota, so we’re moving this summer. While I’m excited about the adventure, and looking forward to having four seasons again, it’s a little overwhelming as well. I’m going to miss this house and these beautiful views…

We’ll adapt though. Since I finally found [...]

We’re back…. (said in a creepy voice…)

May 2nd, 2009 | No Comments

Yay! After some mishaps with the Wordpress import tool, our blog is back! We’re preparing for a likely cross-country move this summer, beginning high school homeschooling in the fall, and a variety of other adventures that I’m looking forward to sharing soon.
The new header image above was created by my oldest daughter, after I asked [...]

Schizophrenic blogging…

October 15th, 2008 | 2 Comments

So I’ve been keeping this blog for a long time, just for my own notes, and recently, I’ve started thinking that maybe it’s time to split up the homeschooling posts into a separate homeschool blog. Originally, I started blogging here for myself, after migrating from livejournal, where I blogged a lot about my grad school [...]

Sent today by Kyla!!!

Hi, this is Kyla. We are not in China! =D (Grandpa complained when I typed “We are in Belize,” so I’m saying we’re not in China instead! XD)

I’ve spent a lot of time this past week or so sitting at my computer typing up plans for the coming school year. Consequently, I’ve also spent more time goofing off and procrastinating by doing things like reading the Well-Trained Mind forum. This evening someone asked whether people had chosen a motto for their homeschool.
Oddly, [...]

The Great Warming

May 4th, 2008 | No Comments

I watch The Daily Show fairly regularly, but somehow I managed to miss the fact that one of my absolute favorite undergraduate professors, Brian Fagan, made a recent appearance to talk about his book The Great Warming, which incidentally, I read within days after its release. Dr. Fagan taught the very first archaeology class I [...]

Negative Motivation

I went ahead and created a Facebook page for funzies today. And because I’m avoiding doing anything resembling actual work. I’ve actually had the page for quite some time, but I finally decided to start using it today.
Lately, I’ve been having trouble sleeping and eating, and I’m feeling tired all the time. I’ve also lost [...]

Hmmm… I wonder if I could pull off sending a copy of this with most of my Christmas cards this year?

Goals for Fall

October 18th, 2007 | No Comments

After a restless night, I woke up at 4am with an impending migraine. Around 5am, I finally gave up on going back to sleep. Gene headed off to work early so it was just as well I was up. I didn’t really feel like myself until almost noon. If not for the headache, I’d actually [...]

Hey Laura, you mean this one?

Someone took the photo for us, and for some weird reason, she had the whole thing way off center. Yay for the crop tool!!
